Well, Here We Go
by Abby Jane
I didn’t think I’d share my thoughts in a newsletter or blog-style way, but a few people have suggested this as a way for me to share everything in one place. One of my friends on here just straight up sent me some really cool logos I couldn’t resist. I kept putting this off because I wasn’t really sure where to begin, but after some thought I decided I’ll give it a whirl. So, this happened kind of spontaneously today. I opened a spindrift, sat outside, listened to the birds, and felt inspired.
I’ve been sharing more on social media about my day-to-day interests. Mixing my style and creativity online through a mix of florals, music and daily life. When I open up social media, I usually try to think of it like this:
How can I connect with and encourage the people in my life?
How can I allow myself to be inspired by others?
What am I going to create (share) today to inspire or encourage someone else?
Lately, i’ve been learning to let how I’m feeling each day guide me, and that has really helped my relationship with social media. Some days, I view it as work and that also helps me separate myself from the more difficult aspects of it. It’s still a learning process and of course sometimes I easily get in my head about posting. I think writing here could be a fun, low-pressure creative outlet, something beyond just posting carousels.
When people ask me what I do, I usually talk about my music, my floral business and I explain how I also work part-time as an executive assistant. Lately, my days have included all of those things, but they’ve also expanded into sharing more of my personal style and what’s inspiring me creatively. I really feel like my music and floral design go hand in hand. It is hard to explain, but somehow they connect. I love going back and forth between it all, because not only does it make it all possible, but it gives me moments to reflect.
As for what I think this space will be, I hope it becomes a place that encourages you to create and feel confident doing all the things that inspire you. I imagine my future posts will feel like more of a collage of things I’m loving and things I’m thinking about.
I see myself sharing things like…
Designs, collages, inspo boards!
Music & podcasts I’m listening to
What I’m wearing
My songwriting process
How I use Pinterest for work
Album art ideas
Books I’m reading (which is not many and I’ll admit that)
How I stay inspired in midst of grief
Health and wellness go to’s
My favorite home decor items and trinkets
Sims 4 builds?
How to create the perfect tablescape
How my brain works when hosting an event
What I’m learning in the floral industry
Gift giving ideas and wish lists!
My tips for staying motivated and organized
My own songs (!!!)
Today, I just wanted to open up the floor by sharing a little bit more about myself. If you don’t know me, thank you for getting this far. If you do know me, you are a real one.
Recently, I did an interview with Nashville Voyager, a local magazine here in Nashville. I thought I’d share it since it gives a little more insight into what I’m sharing here. read article here
Putting yourself out there is not easy. So if anything, I hope this encourages you to do the same. Can’t wait to share more with you! Thank you for reading.
Love,
Abby Jane
